Recently, the 1st and 2nd graders have started their science book. They have been studying plants and animal habitats.
We started the year with two spider plants in our classroom.

We were surprised to discover that these two plants have thrived in our classrooms!

They grew so many babies plants that we had a volunteer (Auntie Danielle's mom, Mrs. Basha) come in and show us how to repot the baby plants. Some we planted in soil and two we planted in water, to be planted in soil after their roots grow.

Mrs. Basha showing us the little roots on the plant that are growing.

We have since planted green bean seeds and even a carrot tip!
We started one of our green bean seeds in a wet paper towel. We continued to check its progress until a little root started to grow. Then we planted it in soil and it has grown taller than the craft stick marker!

"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good"
